Ämne: Heat pump ecu dates/clock going crazy ES4 varmitek

Hi all.
I apologize for writing in english but my swedish is not that good.
We bought a house not to long ago and have on old rock heat pump there.
Yesterday saw a bizzare issue with the control unit.
It first gave the alarm about the high return temperature,which I shut down.
Then I noticed that the clock wasrunning late, tried to set it and it went mad.
If I try to set it it wont accept,also days will change even if I just press from 07:30 to 08:30.
Dates are sometimes in 1740 year sometimes in 1845 sometimes in 1970 and sometimes the display for clock setup looks like a mess (in one of the screenshots it is visible.
Everything else is displayed as it should be so only clock/date settings are mad
I am thinking that since this is an old system maybe the battery is playing up inside the control unit (at least I think there is a battery there for the CMOS).
Does anyone have an idea what is going on.

Hi!
I'm not sure it the clock is crucial for the heat pump, but i guess some components in the E4S Display is getting bad.
The usual is that some electrolyte capacitors starts to break down.
If you are handy you can maybe fix this yourself, open the display and look for the electrolyte capacitors, buy some new at for example elfa (https://www.elfa.se/en)
Then you only need a soldering iron and a solder sucker.

I guess it might be a firmware bug as well. Nibe had a leap day bug some years ago that caused weird problems when setting the clock after a certain date.
As an experiment you can test by setting a date close to when the heat pump was manufactured.

Thanks guys for the response.
Tipo unfortunately I cannot set the date at all.
Only can try to set the clock and that starts acting bizzare cause it changes the day after pressing the clock a few times or the screen goes completely bizzare.
The date screen does not allow me to setup anything so is acting bizzare.
Thanks Carl about the idea about capacitors that could potentialy be something worth investigating
