One small note for those, who trying to connect directly various commercial USB <-> serial convertors or raspberry PI or some other devices like this.
Interface as presented on service connector is not symmetric. One pin is 3V3 (Rx) and one is 5V (Tx) logic, one is inverted (Tx) and second is positive (Rx) logic.
It mean, that to fulfil needs of interface, you need at minimum two inverters (for example two gates of 74HC00; 74HC04 or equivalent) plus logic level converter (at minimum two resistors).
The problem of hardware described at http://rago600.sourceforge.net/ is, that it use optocouplers with wide range of CTR (100-500 %). That mean, you need to adjust resistors R4 and R5 to tailor optocoupler you received. It can be easiest to build at home, using optocouplers with not that wide range. For example PC827-C by Sharp (with CTR: 200-400%). But here is no one interested so much, and for me it mean extra cost, then I do not continue in this part of development.

OK, roughly

My design is more maybe complicated than necessary. I was put ESP-01 on top of heatpump. Inside is not good wifi signal.

I split my device to two parts. Bottom is usual converter with full RS-232 interface, (to be enough noise resistant).
That one as is described here: http://rago600.sourceforge.net/ivt_serial.gif

It is connected by FTP cable to second part (I scar about electric noise from relays and motors).
Second part contain again RS-232 level converter max232 (I had no 3V3 version, than standard one is used + voltage divider), power source by LF33CV and ESP-01 module.

See attached *.ino file. It is very easy, just read every 2 minutes all registers and send them as GET parameters to my grapher on PC.

Is there built in protection for static electricity and/or thunder and lightning?
If not, you should all be ware of the increased risk of broken circuit boards and communication devices / computers when attaching external devices with different potentials then the heat pump has.
This is one of many resaons we decided not to attach our Dataloggers to any heatpump interfaces. https://www.energibutiken.se/sv/2-datalogger
And, i think this is one of the reasons heat pump maufacturers has been hesitating to put this kind of interfaces in there devices.
Maybe they have solved most of this problems, i dont know, but i know it needs to be really  great protection in order to avoid this kind of problems.

As one example, i can tell you about all the temp sensors we sell in our web store right now, when the home heating systems are fired up, home owners notice their outdoor sensors has broken due to lighning during summer season.
I guess similar trends can be seen on heatpump circuite boards not working after summer season. especially on heat pumps connected to one or more different stand-alone systems with their own voltage supply.

I'm not sure I did not miss any point? Can not believe that question is coming from someone who acting as professional.

But my answer is YES, the heatpump is connected using optical interface.

I would recommend  read before write. in all this thread average once per page is question, if optical interface can be avoided followed by answer, that NO, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SKIP OPTICAL ISOLATION.

Nice.

I mean that not even optocouplers fully protect against the risks of transients from lightning strikes, that is at least my experience.
But as usual, it is up to the readers to decide if they are willing to take the risk, IF it exists.

Simply - NO
This one not inverting TxD and do some tricks with power.
Once you are looking for USB connection, you can buy something like THIS or THIS. You have to build optocoupler part (as it is non-standard).
Do not forget, that you will have limited cable length. USB cable is "long one", rego side must be as short as possible.

First of all thx for all the effort you put into the ReGo 6xx interfacing topic.

Being confronted with the higher energy prices, I moved to a dynamic pricing provider Tibber in The Netherlands.
I recently acquired a H60 to optimize my IVT Greenline C4. After initial contact with Peter Hansson, the H60 supposed to work with the Rego604 v3.04 firmware. Seems however that the H1 interface on the H60, is unable to read some of the read-only (0001-000B and 1A01-1A07) registers correctly. The write registers however can the read and set.

Peter Hansson indicated that he has seen that problem for the ReGo604 before, but does know how to solve it. To me it seems that the interface between the H1 to ReGo604 is working, but for some registers the wrong (Dutch) arguments or addresses might be used?

Do you, or anybody in this threat, have a clue if and how this could be solved for the ReGo604 running v3.04?

Hi, have a H66 up and running but since I have a lot of other ESPHome devices I would like to go over to integrate my Rego600 that way.
Wrote this component https://github.com/dala318/esphome-rego600 but it fails to get the expected response as seen in issue #5.
Have read through this forum but failed to find a connection drawing with only an ESP32/8266 and a TTL level converter. Is that because it won't work?
